Patrick Gilfether hails from Northeast Ohio. He holds a B.A. in Cinema Studies from Oberlin College and is interested in using film to explore systems of globalization. He has helped bolt sport climbing routes in China, had his contacts stolen by monkeys in Thailand and slept in the jungle with forest conservation activists in Indonesia. Patrick speak Bahasa Indonesia fluently, and Chinese poorly. He has four years experience in cross-cultural communications, five years in documentary, and seven years in non-profits.
Proficient with C100, C300, 5d, Panasonic and Sony systems, Arri 16mm systems, metering and basic studio subject lighting. Studio and location shooting experience with Kodak color negative film stocks (5219, 5207, 5213, 5203) and exceptional knowledge of Kodak 7266 B/W reversal. Experience with single-shooter workflow, often taking sound while shooting. Accomplished Adobe Premiere editor comfortable collaborating with 3rd party sound designers, title designers, colorists, and animators.
